{"id":27959,"date":"2017-09-20T13:46:00","date_gmt":"2017-09-20T17:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/goebt.com\/merchant-spotlight-african-food-district\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T14:55:23","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T19:55:23","slug":"merchant-spotlight-african-food-district","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goebt.com\/merchant-spotlight-african-food-district\/","title":{"rendered":"Merchant Snapshot: African Food District"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>African Food District is in a small plaza in Fort Worth, Texas.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 Unlike the majority of goEBT retailers, African Food District is more like a small grocery store than a traditional convenience store and serves a unique group of consumers.\u00a0 The store\u2019s owner, Marco, is focused on selling items typically used to make traditional African meals, but he also carries your standard convenience items <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-17422 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/goebt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/pic10-600x450-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"307\" height=\"230\" \/>like chips and soda. \u00a0His core items include different kinds of fish, turkey, goat meat, yams, and various canned foods but his inventory spans all the way to clothing.\u00a0 At African Food District, customers can stop in for staple items like milk and vegetables and leave with unique oils and flowers to complete their dishes.\u00a0 Even with such a diverse inventory, Marco is doing more than relying on grocery sales to build his business.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Marco has owned African Food District since January 1<sup>st<\/sup> and is taking steps to keep growing his customer base and boost his profits.\u00a0 With simple additions like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IRqgysm6U8Y&amp;feature=youtu.be&amp;utm_content=74210167&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter\" rel=\"noopener\">goEBT\u2019s Bill Pay program<\/a>, Marco is giving his regulars one more reason to stop into the store.\u00a0 For Marco, Bill Pay is a great way to bring in customers who might not have otherwise came to African Food District for groceries.\u00a0 Marco also says that accepting EBT has a been an added benefit for his customer base because it makes getting groceries that they might not find at a standard American grocery store much easier.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17423 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/goebt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/pic-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Because African Food District is in a small plaza and located near other types of businesses, advertisements have helped Marco drive more traffic to his store over time.\u00a0 He says that by passing out flyers and business cards, he\u2019s gained a lot of new customers in just a short amount\u00a0of time.\u00a0 As a Bill Pay location, African Food District even comes up in a simple Google search, which also brings in many of his new customers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Even though Marco\u2019s seen a significant and continuous increase in traffic since January, he\u2019s still working hard to drive even more growth.\u00a0 As he looks toward the future, Marco says he\u2019d love to open additional store locations when the time is right.
